about

Having spent the past 10 years working in the corporate world it came as a complete shock to colleagues, friends and family when Mike Waters casually revealed he had secretly been writing songs in his bedroom…. Incredible songs. Released today is the first collection of these songs, an EP entitled LIFE.

LIFE has seen Mike working with the likes of John Castle, Craig Harnath (Jet, Motor Ace) and Jack Arentz (I Know Leopard, New Navy, Deja).

Track Name: Daisy
I love it baby, when you look at me
with your eyes rolling uncontrollably.
I love it baby, when you whisper close
that you love it when I wear these clothes.

Just don’t say,
just don’t say,
just don’t say you love me,
‘cause I won’t say it back.

I love it baby, when you speak too loud
about somebody else when they’re around.
I love it baby, when you stay the night
and we stay up until a quarter past five.

Just don’t say,
just don’t say,
just don’t say you love me,
‘cause I won’t say it back.
Just don’t say,
just don’t say,
just don’t say you love me,
‘cause I don’t deserve that.

You’re always in my thoughts
so you’re always with me.
I’ll act okay, but I’m not
because we’ll never be.
We won’t exist together, Daisy.

You’re always in my thoughts
so you’re always with me.
I’ll act okay, but I’m not
because we’ll never be.
We won’t exist together, Daisy.

Just don’t say,
just don’t say,
just don’t say you love me,
‘cause I won’t say it back.
Just don’t say,
just don’t say,
just don’t say you love me,
‘cause I don’t deserve that.
Track Name: Gambling Man
Sometimes I need to think before I speak.
I’ve made some mistakes with you this week.
Call me out if I’ve done something wrong.
I’m not used to love that lasts this long.

Sometimes I need to sink before I swim.
I’m not really built for the world I’m in.
I don’t live my life thought out and planned.
End up in situations I don’t understand.

I’m a liar and I’m a thief,
I stole glances while you believed
that I don’t think myself a gambling man,
but I take chances every now and then.

Sometimes I need a drink before I sleep.
I can’t keep my mind from running deep.
I’ve a lot of secrets I can’t share.
Please don’t stay away, please don’t be scared.

I’m a liar and I’m a thief,
I stole glances while you believed
that I don’t think myself a gambling man,
but I take chances every now and then.

And although it seems clear,
people that know me well will tell you
I have always seemed so insincere.

I’m a liar and I’m a thief,
I stole glances while you believed
that I don’t think myself a gambling man,
but I take chances every now and then.

I’m a liar and I’m a thief,
I stole glances while you believed
that I don’t think myself a gambling man,
but I take chances every now and then.

I’m a liar, ooh.
I’m a liar, ooh.
I’m a liar, ooh.
I’m a liar, and I’m a thief.
Track Name: Feels Like Home
Settled on that blood red carpet.
Everything I ever wanted.
Wonder if I’ll wake up
as you put on your makeup
and I sing songs about you from the bedroom.

Little hook and first verse started.
Different from the ones that carved it.
Fingers crossed, and toes, but
I won’t get my hopes up.
Just stick with what I know and what I’ve been through.

What if I’m a lost little face in the crowd?
What if I don’t often enough work it out?

Whoa-o-oh
Whoa-o-oh
Can you hear the crowd go…
Whoa-o-oh
Whoa-o-oh
Now I know it feels like home.

Through all the crazy things that happened
I’ve been working like a mad man.
I could use a rest though,
I just want to save those
hours up and use them when I need you.

What if I’m a lost little face in the crowd?
What if I don’t often enough work it out?
What if I don’t want this,
but it’s moving so fast
I can’t slow down.

Whoa-o-oh
Whoa-o-oh
Can you hear the crowd go…
Whoa-o-oh
Whoa-o-oh
Now I know it feels like home.
Lost in treble, beat, bass, tone.
Thought that I had lost it
but I found it rusted,
cleaned it up and brought it home.

For all the weight I carry on my shoulders,
it’s dragging me back down to earth…

Whoa-o-oh
Whoa-o-oh
Can you hear the crowd go…
Whoa-o-oh
Whoa-o-oh
Now I know it feels like home.
Lost in treble, beat, bass, tone.
Thought that I had lost it
but I found it rusted,
cleaned it up and brought it home.
Track Name: Dreams
Came to me like visions in my sleep.
She lay beside me and we spoke about the week.
Heard about my problems and she knew she had to come.
She told me that I’m one of the best things that She’d done.

Oh, I miss you so.
Mama please don’t go.

Been to see my sister and her sons.
Been busy with her, watching over everyone.
I don’t believe in heaven but I know you’re living on.
You’ll be with me forever, every note in every song.

Oh, I miss you so.
Mama please don’t go.

And she sang:
Oh my love, we’ll meet again in time.
I’ll be waiting on the other side.
Don’t be sad just think of me and smile.
Go live dreams as I’d been living mine.

There’s so much left to say,
but I gotta rest my eyes.
I thank you for today
and the reminder that I need to be helped sometimes.
For taking all this off my mind,
until next time.

Oh my love, we’ll meet again in time.
I’ll be waiting on the other side.
Don’t be sad just think of me and smile.
Go live dreams as I’d been living mine.

And she sang:
Oh my love, we’ll meet again in time.
I’ll be waiting on the other side.
Don’t be sad just think of me and smile.
Go live dreams as I’d been living mine.
